Chris Van Hof is your source for custom music arrangements and compositions.

What is a custom arrangement?

A custom arrangement is a version of a piece of music created with your input to specifically meet the needs of your ensemble. If you have a wind quintet, and you want an arrangement of a Rossini Overture that features the oboist, that can be done. Other examples include music written for unusual combinations of instruments (commonly found in small school band programs), solo features for performing artists with orchestra, band, or jazz ensemble, marching band charts, essentially enything your ensemble might need. Hear some examples on my audio page.

Who has played your arrangements?

  • The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra
  • The Eastman Trombone Choir
  • The Western Michigan University Jazz Orchestra with Blue Note recording artist Stefon Harris
  • The Charles Finney School as part of The Commission Project
  • The Eastman New Jazz Ensemble
  • Western Michigan University's Gold Company
  • Many public schools in Michigan and Illinois
  • My own ensemble, the Emerald Brass Quintet
  • The Eastman Summer Trombone Institute

Why do I need a custom arrangement?

Why should I have you create my arrangement?

Here is some feedback from happy past customers:

"Chris Van Hof is an excellent arranger for ensembles with a thorough knowledge of all of the instruments. His arrangements for the Eastman Trombone Choir and the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra for the Christmas Pops program in December 2007 were very professionally done and delighted the audience as well as the players." - John Marcellus, Professor of Trombone, Eastman School of Music

"Chris arranged a well-crafted version of the Joe Henderson classic
'Recordamae' for our 2007 Eastman Summer Trombone Institute to feature bass
trombonist Jim Martin. The arrangement really captured the essence of the
tune in a way that was very idiomatic for a jazz trombone ensemble. I plan
on taking advantage of Chris' formidable skills in the coming years." - Mark Kellogg, Principal Trombone Rochester Philharmonic, Professor of Trombone, Euphonium, and Jazz, Eastman School of Music
